$#@% Creative

I'm going back to using onboard audio for the first time in the last 6 years. Adios Creative Labs, hope you burn in hell right next the my sound card. Time to save up for a REAL sound card that won't break the bank. If the onboard doesn't seem up to the task anyway.

Welcome to where I was 2 years ago. Unfortunately getting away from them can be expensive.

I would say go with Auzentech. Sure their top tier cards are X-Fi chipsets but they seem to work good.

Whats wrong with onboard sound? Ive been using it for years and I hear sh!t just fine..

Guess I never really understood why people invested large sums of cash to hear a few more frequency ranges. Kind of why I dont buy BluRay DVD's, because I really don't care to see that one unshaven gray pubic hair on her .......

Pretty much. Years back the difference was substantial. Now though, I have to admit that while I do notice a difference between on-board and my soon to be shot X-Fi, it's not worth $100+ for it. The only sound card I've been eying up lately is the HT Omega Striker that I can find for $60 or so on sale. I definitely don't want to spend $150+ on ASUS or Auzentech.

There is no difference between on board sound and a sound card anymore.

Unless you're running ProTools to mix you own music, that is.

True. Except the sound processing is run on your CPU instead of offloaded to the sound hardware. But there is usually a difference in sound quality and fidelity between on-board and sound card.
