The Gustav isn't used nearly as much in normal mode as it is in hardcore.

So you mean that every gun will kill you if you get hit by it in HC mode? That almost sounds....realistic!

I agree that there need to be some game mechanic changes (limit Recon classes, longer to bring up Gustav). But just adding more HP by going softcore just seems like a shitty work-around to those issues....

Edit: Oh yea, nerf those damn LMGs!

The biggest downside of "softcore" is the 3D spotting. Basically kills any chance of ninja tactics because if one person sees you, even across the map, they can spot and you have this big orange triangle above your head as your trying to sneak behind the enemy. I think I even saw a script on the forumsthat somebody wrote to basically spam your "q" button. It basically automatically spots anything your game "thinks" you saw. So even if you don't "see" someone on your screen, you hit q and like magic you can see that triangle above their head.

In hardcore you can run right by someone and they would never know and say "WTF!" when you plant right next to them. In other words keep your eyes on the target and worry less about running up and killing people in their spawn.

Trying to bring realism into a game like this usually fails. Especially when the game was designed a certain way (and without prone!), but the "hardcore" mode removes features (minimap/3d spotting) and destroys weapon balance (far more important in a pvp game). Besides, the damage model is hardly accurate. Dying from 3 9mm shots to the leg IS unrealistic. Same thing to the chest with the body armor they wear.

It would be a different story if the hardcore mode was completely rebalanced with it's damage model in mind to prevent the ease of sniping or the cheese of the M60 and Gustav.

So your saying if you get shot by a 9mm in the leg three times your just gonna keep running at the enemy? hmmm... At what point would medic be able to run over to you bleeding out? isnt this "simulated" by the revive paddles?
Also if you get hit with any caliber bullet while wearing body armor its still going to hurt like hell and knock you on your ass.

I agree with the sniper class. Two ways to seperate the sniper boys from the men would be to add a sway / hold breath option and adding body armor sensitivity. Your little 5.56 with a scope on it aint gonna do much from 600 meters away going through a chest plate. But a .50 from 600 meters would rip through it like butter.

Making snipers aim for vital points would make the recon class harder and make less people play it. Vital points like the neck, the head or the groin. Just my

Far as the m60 spam. I doubt thats going to last. No one should be able to run around that quickly with that much ammo and aim like chuck norris on steroids.

I dunno. Its what I think.

I agree, SD. I actually think the weapons overall are too accurate for hardcore. I don't mind the fact that if you get hit two or three times you die, but if someone can hit you from the hip at extreme rage we have a problem.

Leave the accuracy as it is, get rid of the hit indicator.

In the exact same fashion that people jump in the air when hit by a .50 cal.

You bleed out in the same time from 3 9mm rounds as you do from taking a tank round. Hardly realistic in any fashion, which is my whole point. Realism isn't just increased damage, it's the same situation as Call of Duty. It may be fun, but realism isn't the word I'd use.

Forgot about the idea of adding sway. A random sway would be preferred too, not the looping sway that CoD4 has. Less damage to the random body parts would be nice too, or even the removal of being able to use the magnum rounds. Anything to prevent the super 1 shot 1 kill to ANY part of the body would be a welcome change.

I've been wishing for this since Battlefield 2. And again in Call of Duty 4. At least in GRAW 2 it was optional (even if it was client side and not server based).

Doesn't fix the sniper.

Only for the 5XXX cards. Doesn't do shit for 4XXX cards or older.

*EDIT* They are supposedly coming out with a hotfix that will help the 4XXX cards next week.
